BANGKOK BOX @ Piccadilly Market

Discover real Thai street food by BANGKOK BOX at St James’s Church in Piccadilly between 11am and 3pm.

Every weekday the courtyard of St James’s Church Piccadilly is transformed into a lively street food market. Since 2009, locals, nearby workers and tourists have been able to escape the busy city streets and immerse themselves in the culinary delight that has been curated by Street Foodish in the tranquil setting of the church’s courtyard and award-winning Southwood garden.

St James’s Church Piccadilly is sandwiched between two famous London streets. To the north, 500,000 people pass through London’s iconic Piccadilly every day, with its bustling flagship stores and huge electronic billboards. To the south, historic Jermyn Street, world renowned for heritage brands of luxury British menswear, bespoke shirts and high end tailoring.

St James’s Church Piccadilly has been at the heart of this community in the West End of London since 1684. The building was designed by no other than Sir Christopher Wren, and is said to be one of his finest churches, not least because it’s built of red brick with Portland stone dressings, but because architecturally, Wren created a space with a capacity of 2,000 people in which all can fully appreciate the events taking place. Today, anyone using the space would agree that the interior of the church feels endlessly spacious, modern in its simplicity, and flooded with natural light. St James’s Church Piccadilly has strong links to its Piccadilly neighbour, the Royal Academy of Arts, and has long been a spiritual home for creatives. It’s no wonder that the church has witnessed the baptisms, marriages and funerals of famous explorers, poets and artists. Today, the grounds continue to serve the arts as a TV and film set for productions as high profile as the Harry Potter movies, or a setting for concerts, exhibitions and cultural events. Unsurprisingly, the church also boasts its own collection of historic and contemporary pieces, which visitors will find displayed throughout the church and garden.

Of all the places we trade, this place is a special , with a magical atmosphere filled with kindness and respect. Trading here in this historic part of London is a dream come true. When we started our business our vision was to bring real Thai street food - just as it is in Bangkok - to the streets of London. This is the dream, and we’re so grateful to Street Foodish, St James’s Church Piccadilly and all of our wonderful customers, who choose to support us during their travels. We thoroughly recommend you visit this market if you have the opportunity.

We can’t wait to see you!
